“We need this tomorrow morning!” Peter Fruehstueck, CTO of Austrian based `Handler-Bau´, no longer dreads these words. The throughput of 12.000 sqm/year, produced by 27 operators, is now handled easily by reprocontrol.net, an HP DesignJet 4500 and a bayCompact online folding machine.

 

Handler-Bau is a midsize construction company in Austria with more than 300 employees, designing and building everything from residential homes to prestigious projects such as the renovation of Vienna‘s famous Natural History Museum, the building of the new Finance Center in the Capital of Lower Austria or the renovation of some well known sites in the 1st district of Vienna.

 

More and more architects don’t send paper plans, but deliver HPGL and PDF files via CD or email. “Typically about 100 of these plans come in shortly before closing time, but have to be printed and folded by 05:30 the next morning”, Mr. Fruehstueck explains. With the plans from the outside contractors, in addition to their own CAD output, the workload became too great for an existing HP 500 and Océ diazo machine.

 

Handler-Bau initially considered an Océ TCS 500 system, then long term supplier ‘CAD Zubehoer’ suggested the reprocontrol.net solution, and arranged for a demonstration which Handler-Bau found impressive. The subsequent evaluation installation convinced Handler-Bau that this was the system they needed.

 

Peter Fruehstueck stated “What is very important to us is the security aspect, combined with the cost tracking and accounting.” Of all 27 operators, only 2 have Administrator rights.

 

Three operators can access all queues and adjust the job priorities. All other reprocontrol.net users can only access their own jobs. Following corporate IT guidelines, the reprocontrol.net server is safely installed in Handler-Bau’s secure datacenter, where it remotely operates the bayCompact folding machine, and equally important: machine status is monitored by the administrator remotely.
